Refurbishment

The Geochron Refurbishment Program

Depending on the environmental conditions surrounding your Geochron, it may need a refurbishment after approximately seven years.  The primary culprits necessitating a refurbishment are dusty environments and letting the lights run continuously.

To check the age of your Geochron, look at the first 4 digits of the unit’s serial number.  It is located on the back, towards the bottom of the Geochron in the middle.  The first 4 digits represent the year and month the Geochron was manufactured (for example, a serial number 9702-34567 was built in February of 1997).

Refurbishment pricing is tiered based on age.  The prices below are the costs for complete refurbishments and do not include shipping.

The typical refurbishment timeline is between three and four weeks.  All refurbishments include a complete teardown of the unit, cleaning and greasing of all gears and moving components, new maps, ballasts and light tubes, shadows, and motors (over 7 years).  It includes any other parts needing replacement from typical wear and tear.

Should there be any issues, there is a 90 day, no questions asked warranty including all shipping costs.

Hopefully, the original packaging system has been saved.  If you do not have the original packaging, a new shipping container system will be sent to you for $90 which includes the cost of shipping the container to you.  We can not receive units unless they arrive in Geochron containers without prior approval.  It is a shipping damage liablity issue; our packaging is engineered and insured through UPS to keep your unit safe during transport.

Due to the costs of shipping , labor opening the Geochron, and the difficulty in providing a comprehensive warranty on the non-repaired components, “repair only” cases are rare for units over five years of age.  Ultimately, the expense to the customer has the possibility of becoming much greater if the unit needs to return in a few years for a different issue.

Geochron will ship your unit back to you via UPS Ground – the costs for shipping will be added to the total invoice.

Thank you for making the investment to deep your Geochron running like new!
