Refurbishment Program
After 7 or so years your unit may benefit from a refurbishment. The main determinates of this need are, how many hours a day the lights of the unit are left on, if the unit is in mounted in a dusty environment and if the unit has been left off for a prolonged period of time.
The first thing to do if you would like to have the factory work on your Geochron is to check the age of the unit. You can tell the age of your piece by looking at the first 4 digits of the units’ serial number. These are located on the back bottom of the Geochron in the middle (insert photo). The first 4 digits represent the month and year the Geochron was produced. For example a serial number 9602‐34567 it was produced in in 1996 and in the month of February.
The second is to see if you have the original packaging that the unit came in. The Geochron is a precision handmade instrument that has packaging that is designed, tested and insured, to keep your unit safe during transport. If you do not have the original packaging, you will need to call us. We will sell you the required packaging for $39.95 (plus shipping). As of March 1 2008 we will not accept units back for refurbishment that are not shipped using these factory approved materials.
Without the box, you'll need to call the factory (1-800-342-1661) and order. The next steps are downloading the complete instructions of the Refurbishment Program, Return Authorization Form and packing instructions.
